Sadler's Indoor Racing - Olathe, KS

One of the longest indoor tracks I've found is at Sadler's Indoor racing in Olathe, Kansas, just to the east of I-35 at exit 218.

The track can be split into an oval and Grand Prix, but the full track is open most of the time and is a fan tastic mix of technical turns and long, fast runs. Total length is listed as 1148.3ft and my fastest lap was 35.449 seconds. $18 buys you 10 minutes or so. The people there were very friendly.

DO NOT Take Your Children To Sadler's Indoor Racing in Olathe!!!

After years of my children begging to go to Sadler's, we finally did and we WILL NOT be returning. We went this Sunday evening and had a horrible experience.

First of all, the website was very misleading, giving the impression that you could get 5 ten minute sessions for $58.99. This meant the whole family could ride for $60. Upon arriving, we were informed that the package of 5 ten minutes sessions had to be used by the same person and could not be split up. So, my wife and I did not ride, bringing about the first disappointment of our time there.

Next, when the kids finally got on the track, they were bumped and knocked around by the other drivers, a group of NASCAR wanna-bees. This was despite the fact that the boys were in what are called "Cadet Cars." (These were supposed to be for kids and novice drivers, but were curiously absent of seat belts, as the other cars had.)

The instructional video prior to the race (Watched only by my son’s and none of the other drivers) explained that anyone hitting a Cadet Car would get a "Black Flag." Two Black Flags and you were out. Well, even though these idiots, showing off for their girlfriends, bumped the boys over and over, no Black Flags were issued. My boys were only told by the facility staff members to "Drive faster."

When the race was over, one of my son's moved his arm back to get out of the cart and slid his arm again a hot part of the engine, resulting in third degree burn on his forearm. The attendant helping him out of the cart did not seem concerned and told him to exit the track. We didn't realize the extent of his burn until we got out into the lobby and treated the burn with a first aid kit in our car until we could get home to better attend to the burn.

To add insult to my son's injury, despite the pain of his burn, my son wanted to know how he did in the race. Unfortunately, we don't know because they apparently don't track the information for the Cadet Cars, something that was not explained to us. So instead of seeing their race results on the big screens, they only got to see the results of the pathetic adults who ran into them the entire race.

This place claims to be a kid friendly place, IT IS NOT KID FRIENDLY!!! DO NOT TAKE YOUR CHILDREN TO SADLER'S!!!!
